Dr.
John Cottle is a practicing optometrist at Sabates Eye Centers.
He received his undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Science,
Forestry, from Michigan Technological University in May
of 1997. He was awarded his Doctor of Optometry, cum laude,
from Illinois College of Optometry (ICO), Chicago Illinois
in May 2004.
During his educational experience at ICO, Dr. Cottle compiled
an extensive student externship history. At the Veterans
Affairs Clinic in Huntington WV, he participated in advanced
eye care with an emphasis on ocular disease cases with frequent
management of diabetic eye disease, ARMD, glaucoma and cataract
pre/post operative care. Additionally, Dr. Cottle also served
at the Illinois Eye Institute and the Center for Advanced
Medicine, University of Chicago Hospital. During these assignments,
his emphasis included low vision rehabilitation services,
pediatric eye care, and rotations in neuro-ophthalmology,
oculo-plastics, glaucoma and retina service.
Dr. Cottle has earned several distinguished
honors and awards. Among them, he received a Trustees Scholarship
from 2000-2004, was elected President of the student chapter
of the American Academy of Optometry (Illinois College of
Optometry), and was a member of the Tomb and Key Honor Fraternity,
Illinois College of Optometry.
