Kevin P. Pikey, D.O. – Dr. Pikey specializes in the advanced treatment of glaucoma and cataracts.
Dr. Pikey, a board-certified, fellowship trained physician, received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo. He earned his medical degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, Kansas City, Mo. After an Internal Medicine internship at St. Louis University, he completed an Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine/Eye Foundation of Kansas City where he was elected chief resident by his faculty and peers. He received his specialty training in glaucoma from the prestigious Devers Eye Institute/Casey Eye Institute-Oregon Health & Science University, Portland, Oregon. While in Portland he served as Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at the University.
Dr. Pikey has participated in multiple clinical studies in the area of medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma. He is the recipient of numerous honors and appointments including the Pharmacia Resident Research Day 2003-First Place Award, Sigma Sigma Phi National Osteopathic Honor Fraternity-President, and recognized in America’s Top Ophthalmologists 2007-Consumer Research Council of America. He also has served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology, University of Kansas School of Medicine, Kansas City, Kansas, and is currently Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine.
He has lectured extensively on the management of glaucoma and serves as a mentor for medical students interested in pursuing a career in ophthalmology. As a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology he helps teach an instructional course on how to perform glaucoma filtration surgery at their annual international meeting.
