SPECIALIZES IN DISEASES AND SURGERY OF THE RETINA AND VITREOUS AND ADVANCED CATARACT SURGERY
Dr. Neil Shah started his academic pursuit at the University of Pittsburgh where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He then graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine with Honors. Dr. Shah performed his ophthalmology residency at Loyola University Medical Center and went on to complete his vitreoretinal fellowship at University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC).
Dr. Shah is board certified in ophthalmology. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at UMKC. He has authored and reviewed numerous scientific publications and textbook chapters, and has been an invited speaker to present case presentations and abstracts at national ophthalmic meetings. He is actively involved as a clinical investigator in several collaborative trials and studies on various conditions including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachment repair.
Dr. Shah was raised in Michigan and is eager to establish his new home in Kansas City with his wife, and two children. As the newest member of the Sabates Eye Center, he is excited to provide outstanding, compassionate care to patients while having the opportunity to conduct ground-breaking clinical research studies and be actively involved in the education of the resident trainees at UMKC Hospitals.
